2024 Detroit Lake Fishing Derby Registration is now OPEN! 〰️
2024 Kokanee Power of Oregon Derby
1st place payout will be $500 for all the derbies. All Derbies will pay down to 10th place. If more than 30 teams enter then will pay down to 15th place.
To sign up for any of these derbies, select either the online payment form or the mail-in form. Use a separate form for each derby entry. Team members that prefer to pay separately may each fill out a Derby entry form separately and use the same Team and Captain’s name. If there are more than 4 people fishing in your team please fill out an extra form with the additional team members and use the same Team and Captain’s Name. Only one entry for the Blind Bogey, Biggest Kokanee and/or Biggest Fish for each team.
Derby fee is $55 for current members and $90 for non-members (This includes a membership for the current calendar year). There is a $10 discount if you register two weeks before the derby date.
These events operate under a special use permit through the USDA, Forest Service.

Fishing Derby Entry
Adult Entry Fee (14 and older) is $25.00 per entry.
Kids Entry Fee (under 14) is $20.00 per entry.
Each fish punch card has a tear-off raffle ticket for a chance to win the grand prize. The grand prize raffle ticket must be filled out legibly with the name, address, and phone number of the entrant or parent of the entrant and placed in the appropriate container.
One entry fee covers all three days.
Tip: Write your name on your punch card. If you find a punch card, please bring it to registration.
Prizes
Grand Prize
Each entry receives one ticket for the grand prize adult and kid’s drawing. You may purchase additional entries for the grand prize. Grand prizes are awarded between 2:00 and 3:00 PM on Sunday. You do not need to be present to win, but it’s more fun if you’re there!
Grand Prize - Adult: Smoker Craft 15’ Alaska TF boat with motor & trailer
Grand Prize - Kids: Bike and safety helmet
Biggest Fish: Rod and reel combos for the biggest fish by weight – 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place each for adult and kid categories.
Tagged Fish: Ten tagged fish have been planted in the lake. Nine of the tagged fish, if caught, are worth $50.00 each and one specially tagged fish is worth $100.00. Tagged fish must be taken to the Detroit City Park station by Noon on Sunday.
Detroit Lake Foundation Raffle: Anyone can participate in the DLF Raffle, even if you don’t enter the Derby. Raffle prizes vary each year but expect to find lots of fun stuff like inflatables, outdoor grills, coolers, fishing equipment, and water fun toys!
Here’s how to get DLF Raffle tickets:
Prior to the Derby: Go to the Eventbrite site and purchase your DLF Raffle tickets online to pick up at the Derby event. Pre-sale tickets are available online until Thursday, May 15 at 11:30 PM. Pre-sale ticket prices are $20 for 5 tickets and $40 for 10 tickets.
At the Derby: Go to the registration area in the park and purchase DLF Raffle tickets until Saturday, May 18 at 5:00 PM. DLF Ticket prices are $5 per ticket.
Raffle prizes are displayed all day Friday and Saturday at the registration area at the Detroit City Park. Winning tickets are drawn in a closed drawing Saturday at 5:00 PM. Winners will be posted on Sunday at the registration area in the park and on the Detroit Lake Foundation site. Winners can claim prizes from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 19.
What to Do with the Fish you Catch?
When you’re finished fishing for the day, take your fish to the Detroit City Park, Kane’s Marina, or Detroit Lake Marina. Weighing/clipping stations are open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and 8:00 AM - Noon on Sunday.
Think you have a Big Fish winner? Keep the fish intact and bring it to the official weighing station at the Detroit City Park station. You’d be surprised what wins, don’t sell your fish short – get it weighed!
Tagged fish should be brought to the Detroit City Park station.
Fish must be caught in Detroit Lake and /or the immediate tributaries in the Detroit Lake area.
Fish may be cleaned (gutted) but the tail may not be cut off.
Frozen fish are not counted.
Fish must be caught between the time the Derby opens and when it closes on Sunday.
Qualifying fish are tail-clipped, your card is punched, and you’ll receive one blue (for adults) or yellow (for kids) drawing ticket for each legal fish caught.
Maximum tickets per punch card is 15.
The Fishing Derby drawing starts at 2:00 PM on Sunday.
Catch n’ Release
Both Marinas sponsor Catch and Release. You receive one punch on your adult/child fish card and a blue/yellow raffle ticket for each legal fish (up to 5 per day.) Fish must be counted before released.
*What is a legal fish?
A legally caught fish is defined as: rainbow trout or kokanee that is 8 inches or longer. The limit is 5 fish, per person, per day.

Food Trucks:
Baked and Loaded Potatoes LLC (AKA the Spud Bus) –Local Stayton favorites Ken and Amy bring you baked potatoes with toppings ranging from traditional cheese to taco to vegetarian. Check the link for their menu.
Oregon Beverage Service-A good day of fishing might need to be capped off with your favorite beer, cider, or claw. OBS has you covered.
In Town:
Korner Burgers & more-Located at 100 Detroit Ave S in Detroit, you’ll find burgers, grilled sandwiches, chicken strips, fish n chips, hot soups, and non-alcoholic beverages. They also have alcoholic beverage service and a mini-market with snacks, beverages, and fishing tackle.
Mountain High Grocery-Located at 220 W D St in Detroit, they have a hot deli in the back of the store along with cold deli items in the refrigerator cases. They also have and snacks, beverages, and fishing tackle.

In any emergency, please call 9-1-1. If your need is not serious, we have first responders available and basic first aid like bandaids at the Registration Area at the City Park.
